Shoot 10 - Work Record

When taking pictures for shoot 10, I wanted to capture and document technology and means for the ways that young people communicate via technology. The series of images are taken in my house and in the house of my friend's. I chose to focus on this because technology and communication are a massive part of the youth of today. The series of images show how different youth culture now is today and the evolution of subcultures and trends.

In this image, It is of an apple mac computer, the angle and frame of the shot is effective, as it gives a close-up shoot of the device itself. The lighting in the image is warm and bright and so gives a cool effect. The illuminated key board contrasts with the warm glow from another light source. The youth of today's lives are ruled by technology, computers are a massive part of the way that young people communicate as the device has all types of social media that's used. The dark keypad and edges of screen of the laptop really contrasts against the bright warm glow of the red/orange light. The image has  varying texture, the smoothness of the laptop is and the keyboard is clear and contrasting.

This image is of my friend on his new phone, the image seems to capture the obsession that youth with technology as in the image 3 different screens of devices are visible. When editing this image I turned up the contrast a little, this seemed to make the lighting of the shot more refined and focused as there are a lot of devices emitting light, and so is prone to noise. The angle of the shot gives an inside look into the lives of young people, in their rooms communicating via technology, it also gives a perspective as though the viewer is actually on the phone and other devices. The shot has good depth of field, as there are many different focus points within the shot.

Progression: When shooting for my actual exam, I want to incorporate all the different elements of youth culture that I have captured in my shoots, and put them together to make a final 2 shoots of work that represent the significance and cultural importance of youth subculture. I want to blend all my styles, techniques and ideas used in my unit 2 to collectively effect and fuel my final exam.
